This is an amazing website. I happen to find it by accident just now.
I am not sure what happened, but apparently most of the incredible action happened here around 10 or so months ago.
When watching the videos, I thought the more interesting ones were by HetLot and carlisle. They give me a pretty good understanding of what this community is about.
btw, HetLot, if you ever get to read this, what country are you from? I know you noted your English is not proper, but it sounds pretty good to me.. just with a british accent.

I am very interested what happened to the site. It apparently looks quite professional, and seems functional at least from the viewer's point of view. You've got social media marketing. You've got SEO. You've even got legal terms agreements. You apparently got or had a nice user group of people who continuously contributed videos.
What happened?

I was reading that Troy had been preparing some new versions of the site with new features and everything, and that was never set up... but I imagine that not having the new features did not dissade members from continuing to upload content, as they have done before. So what was the reason for people not to continue to post?
I see carlisle eagerly trying to bring back what was here before.. but I am trying to figure out, what happened?

Apparently carlisle is able to post videos to this day, so it should not be technical issue..

Troy, have you previously been doing some type of advertising that is no longer being done?

I would like to help, as this seems to have been a vibrant community with potential, but I have to know what changed in order to help in some way.

IM BACK BITCHES. We need GOOD quality dares out there. the dares from the first few pages are TONS better than all this nudity bullshit. start being creative. Also be reasonable.

vilmer, negligence is my guess. There used to be alot of great users on here posting great dares, but then the mods stopped caring what happened with the site. That allowed the low class to come in and flood it with "show me ur boobies!" dares to girls and "here's a pic of my penis!" dares to themselves. Stuff like this flooded the the good dares and users out. I think alot of users just decided it wasn't worth wading through pages and pages of penis dares to find a good dare.

Also i think not being able to delete a video after youve posted it, or making it so only members can see the videos turned alot of people off. Potential employers research people all over the internet. If one were to run up on a site like this and see a picture of you stapling a condom to your ass, it could really damage your chances at landing a job.

No, there was no negligence. Users (who will go unnamed) were sending long complaints about our service when we were trying our best to make everyone happy. We realize now we just can't please everyone.

The site got spammed out a bit and I took down as much as I could from them right now. We were working on the new version of the site but everyone stopped posting and started getting angry at us so we kind of put the site on hold. It's one thing that we're doing this for free having fun but it's another thing if everyone is getting mad at us for providing a free service. We won't be taking down the site but updates are temporally on hold. If the site becomes more active again we have no problem making the effort to make some huge improvements. Once again, this is a temporary hold on updates, we do plan to resume in the future.

Well said troy, i still drop by and check things out from time to time. I for one appreciate what you guys have done with this site and hope that activity will pick up again soon. I'm just not into the "get naked and poop yourself" dares.

Troy, i see the problem. You guys are waiting for us to post new stuff. We would be happy to see some long awaited features coming. Well, one party has to do the first step but who? Actually there is no real audience for cool stuff. I know that some old members still check out what's happening and they see fetish stuff and dares that really nobody ever wants to do... From bragster i remember that the teams were the internal motivation to participate in the community. Here, team activity is zero - and it always was since we have teams on mad. We pointed out some missing features in team management and better presence of team generated content as well as rankings that contain more than one page. That was about 2 years ago. After one year of no enhancements activity on the site went down. There are some ideas like having co-moderators in teams and the feature that any team member can invite others. Just small changes without much work.
Other suggestions:

-User and team rankings: Just add more pages, simple database stuff.
-Deleting comments on user pages and own dare entries: That helps to get rid of 90% of the spam on mad that pisses off so many users. Plus, it saves work for you...
-Automatic deletion of dares without entries if the popularity goes down too much.
-Kick the most annoying spammers - not just the dares
-Allow us to help by adding a report system and maybe more site moderators (special users)
-Work on the voting system. It should also count views to bring more life to the rankings. Allow external votes with tracking cookies for safety.
-Activity feed (this little box that was on bragster when there is site activity)
-A simple chat module
-Developer forum to discuss features and how they could work best for the community

I tried to program a bragster clone myself but i never did some php and database programming before and jquery and the dom structure really confuses me. Nevertheless it worked somehow, even the video transcoding... so if i respect the work you do it's not just a word.
I know all this is hard work, but once you have a functional site, mods can be made step by step, some really fast. So let's do it together, i'm pretty sure that anything you do will motivate us as well and vice versa.

i agree with AbsOfSteel 100%. Those features he mentioned would cut down on alot of spam and all that crap. And i think after being promised continually that updates were coming yet never came, people just gave up on the site.

I have given the same idea about inactive dares with no entries and hypes in the -'s. About a year ago. Or even more. I cannot even find the post anymore. But seeing ABS suggest the same thing OR something close to what i said means that more than 1 person would like to see this and would take allot work from admins / mods.

And a way to try to get more active people here is to advertize somehow. I had a few videos I posted her on YouTube as well With links to MAD But was forced to put them into private mode because they were being illegally posted / onto another website w/o my permission. This included the 1 I did for the Pool jump dare. I posted the youtube link here because even till today it's stuck in converting and cannot be viewed here.

However the we may think about trying to get this more active and updated more sooner than later. For those who live under a rock or are not in USA may not know that this site and others like it had a close call with SOPA / PIPA. These were eventually voted out however our twisted corrupt government will continue to assault internet freedoms and try to sneak things into law that may allow lawmakers that cannot even turn a computer on block websites like this / YouTube / Facebook / TEC...

We need to make MAD live again! I haven't been on here for a while either, but I'm back now! I'm trying to get more people to come back too. I uploaded one of my dares last night in hopes of livening up this site with something that isn't some softcore porn. Then i realized there aren't any admins to accept my video! Troy where you at?!?! I still have to do that eggnog challenge dude lol

Is there another way to get the word out. MAD has Twitter and Facebook. The 2 most popular sites on the net. But nothing is happening. you would think with 11,365 people liking on Facebook there would be more activity here. And there has to be a way to get more people to actually do dares. At this time we have more than 4x dares being made than being completed.
